Background
Hailing from a family of fisher folk on the south east coast of Scotland I have a naturally affinity with the sea and the unique way of living it brings. I have been privileged and fortunate enough to maintain this connection in a career that has afforded me the opportunity to travel far and wide experiencing many different countries, their businesses, their people, and how they function from an operational and cultural perspective. This has proven invaluable when looking to quickly orientate, understand and read situations when dealing with multi-cultural workplaces.
I am now at a stage in my career where I have gained a plethora of knowledge and experience which is genuinely relevant and transferrable to businesses facing various challenges whilst looking to develop, grow and flourish irrespective of being small, medium or large enterprises.
Despite my Scottish heritage I consider Cornwall my home having raised my family here over the last 29 years. My connection with the sea continues in my leisure time as a member and coach at Gyllyngvase Surf Life Club in Falmouth encouraging people of all ages to gain confidence in the water, achieve their sporting goals and have the opportunity to learn the skills needed to qualify as a Surf Lifeguard, with the primary aim of becoming future RNLI Lifeguards around the coast of Cornwall.
This highly rewarding interest provides me with much needed balance in terms of giving something back, personal fitness and wellbeing, and has further challenged me to look at how we use our oceans in ways that are respectful of our environment and the underlying safety of the wider coastal communities.
